There are several things that I hope to accomplish in life, and a very specific and unconventional way I hope my every day life will look like. For this, I am labeled a dreamer. Every one has heard the phrase “If your dreams don’t scare you they aren’t big enough.” I have fully experienced the fear of dreaming first hand. What if I am always labeled a dreamer? How do I deal with the feeling of being completely in over my head?
We all feel this way at one time or another, some of you might have big dreams like me, or maybe you are becoming a dad, or have career goals, or family visions, maybe you got a promotion and you feel inexperienced or unqualified.
Feeling completely in over your head can be completely stressful, but maybe it can be the reckoning force needed to project you into a growing season.
If you are anything like me those feelings don’t stop you from pursuing the vision you have established deep down within your soul. You will stop at nothing short of reaching your full potential. In fact, the moment you have those feelings is the moment you are provided with fuel to keep pursuing. Have you ever considered feeling in over your head might be a good thing? “Samantha.. you sound crazy, that just sounds stressful.” Yeah.. I get it, but to feel overwhelmed in these instances allows you to stretch yourself, grow, and learn new things. Pushing yourself into the unknown strengthens your character and launches you to new heights… it is even completely acceptable to carry that healthy fear with you along the way.
Shift your viewpoint- when you find yourself overwhelmed consider it a positive. You have the opportunity to respond to those normal feelings with grace while learning from it, or you have the option to spiral into a panic and consider yourself anxious. It is how you respond to these situations that says everything about who you are as a person. You have the power to determine how you will let these feelings affect you.
“If it is both terrifying and amazing then you should definitely pursue it.”
